Why I don’t wear Black but I love Chocolate Brown (particularly with Pink!)
I wrote “How NOT to Wear Black” back in 2011 because so many women came to see me to have their colours analysed who couldn’t understand why black no longer suited them … truth is it probably never really did!!
My truth story came early in my 20’s when I dyed my hair jet black by mistake when it was meant to be a golden brown!!! I remember trying to find something to wear the next day that matched my sheet white face and coal coloured barnet but clearly didn’t succeed as my boss immediately emptied her petty cash and told me to spend it all and not return until I had been to the hairdressers!! 😂🤦‍♀️😂
So why doesn’t it suit me?
🖤 I don’t have the cool blue based complexion needed to rock black
🖤 It totally washes me out up against my face
🖤 It makes me look 150 and I’m only 62!
🖤 It highlights dark shadows under my eyes and around my mouth eeek
🖤 It pronounces the lines from my nose to my mouth which are my worst
🖤 Sometimes I even look like I have at least two chins and dare I write this .. a moustache 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
So … if you think you might not suit black BUT love it and want to continue to wear it well swipe to see the cover of my book because colour should be a feel good therapy and not send you into therapy!
How do I do it?
✔️ I wear black trousers or a skirt so it’s AWAY from my face
✔️ I choose patterns in my outfits that may have black in them but predominantly are full of my best spring colours
✔️ If I do wear a black top it has to be a low neck and I put a spring scarf on to counteract the reflection onto my skin
✔️ I always put gold jewellery on if I have black anywhere near my complexion
✔️ I choose brown over black above the waist in my jackets and outerwear

I can’t believe I told my embarrassing shoulder pa

I can’t believe I told my embarrassing shoulder pad story from the 80’s LIVE ON AIR @qvcuk yesterday!! 😂🤦‍♀️😂 Not only showing my age but having to admit what a desperate fashion follower I was in my 20’s when the hit TV series “Dallas” was my favourite and I just had to have a “Sue Ellen” style jacket!!
So I bought one with ginormous American Football size shoulder pads and on its first outing I got stuck in the doorway of a trendy soho restaurant which was mortifying!!! I had to reverse out and go back in sideways OMG 😦
I am delighted to say that whilst the 80’s are having a fashion revival this year shoulders are currently softly tailored and super flattering just like this gorgeous pinstripe blazer @sosandar on sale @qvcuk and a delight to wear on air.
My fashion nod to that decade will safely remain with statement jewellery!

Apologies now to all of those #wannabewinters out there to highlight Dan showing everyone how to rock this COOL season!! 😂😎🆒🪭 Even though the drapes had all got a tad liberal by the end of the day with their placings!!
What fun we had myself and Dan the inspirational @eyewear_stylist yesterday doing Colour Training in London for some fabulous ladies and eyewear specialists who were keen to discover more about how to put the right coloured glasses and frames onto their customers and to discover their own true colours too!
GLASSES have become a huge fashion accessory and such a fabulous way to express your personality with colours and styles that suit your genetic colouring your personality and face shape too!

He is leading the way with Colour Analysis in Eye Wear and I love being a part of this training.
